Abandoned adobe, New Mexico

This was one of the first photos from last year's trip out west that I managed to sell. The owner of the coffee shop I work at in Columbia SC purchased this one, along with another. Thanks, Kitty!

This was one of many former residences I saw abandoned in the West. I love the adobe, the overall atmosphere. For some reason, it makes me think of sub-Saharan Africa, maybe somewhere in Kenya? Maybe I'm just losing it. It is, after all, about 2:30 in the morning.

Anyway, this is one of my favorites from the trip, for whatever reason. The photo is, I think, a good one. But more than that, it just seems like the kind of place I could move into if I was one on of my trips and got stranded -- assuming, of course, I was a single man. However, I'm married, and I know for a fact that my wife wouldn't want to move there. It was way out in the sticks, not much around but for an abandoned store marked "CANDY" on the side. There was a gas station, but not much in the way of entertainment opportunity.
